Many years ago, the young son of a couple with whom my wife and I are friends called me up. Actually, his dad called me and said, Someone wants to talk to you, before handing the phone off to the boy. That boy asked me if I would be his confirmation sponsor and I proudly accepted the invitation.
I have prayed for him every day since. But to be honest, he’s not really the kind who needs my prayers. A solid young man with his head screwed on right. A true testament to his parents love for him and for Christ.
In a few moments, he will marry a wonderful young woman and begin his life as head of his own new family.
I may shed a tear.
Pray for them – for peace, prosperity, happiness.
Pray for the grace to sanctify each other and for many, many babies.
As a side note, kudos to them for making the wedding a black tie affair! Nothing I like better than getting dressed up in a Saturday night in Augusta, GA!
