Fifth Sunday after Epiphany (Resumed)

Funny how the old calendar works… anyway, the collect of this Mass is most appropriate to us today.

“O Lord, we beseech Thee to keep Thy household continually under Thy mercy: that as it leans only upon the hope of Thy heavenly grace, so it may always be protected by Thy mighty power.”

Are You…

Going to Mass daily if you are able?

Saying your prayers?

Praying your rosary?

Going to confession?

Spending time with your family doing silly things?

Spending time with your family doing laudatory things?

Asking Our Lord to send you good works?

Receiving those works with joy?

Fasting frequently?

Reading the saints?

Reading Scripture?

Just thought I’d toss it out there. Things might be looking up at the moment (or at least not as down as they had been) but these are never bad things to do.

Let us pray for each other.

And Yes, Yes, I Also Agree with This.

Lest I be accused of dissembling , the two positions are not mutually exclusive.

I share this now from my friend, St. Louis Catholic.

Side note, this morning I stood on my front porch after returning from Mass. FYI the Carmelites Sisters seemed extra joyful from behind the screen as they prayed by name for President Trump, America, and the Church. They have been doing this for years now.

I stood on my porch and I sipped my black coffee from my Trump coffee mug.

I stood on my porch as the garbage men came by in their yellow high-viz vests to collect my trash. These guys come around twice a week around the same time. They are hard-working and they actually seem to enjoy their labor. We always smile and wave at each other. I greatly appreciate the work they do. I’ve gotten to know some of them. This morning, the two men who jumped off the back of the truck – both Mexican – pointed to my house, gave big thumbs up, And, seeing the flag, gleefully, shouted at me, “Go Trump!”

So yes, yes, I will enjoy the next few days.

God convert President Trump. Straighten out his lovely wife, strengthen his new Vice President, and bless our land with peace!

Immaculate Mary, Mother of God, pray for us all!

Keep the Prayers Up!

I have just returned from my parish Church, where I spent an hour in prayer of Thanksgiving. I also continued my prayers for the conversion of President-elect Trump and for the strengthening of faith of Vice President-elect Vance.

Meanwhile, leave it to the ever frosty Mark Docherty to sum up exactly what I’m feeling. Please take a look.

He Did It

This is history, folks.

God bless America!

Isn’t He Cuddly?

The Day Is Upon Us

It is the eve of “the most important day in our nations history”.

Wherever you may be, I urge you to pray.

I am spending this time overnight kneeling before Our Lord. My parish is having Adoration.

I am in His presence now.

I gaze upon Him in love and trembling.

Lord Jesus, bless our land.

Lord Jesus, touch the hearts of sinners.

Lord Jesus, spare us in Thy mercy!

Lord Jesus, for the sake of the tears of Thy Holy Mother, hear us!

I don’t know what else to say.

Perhaps I will simply gaze upon Him more with love and trembling.
