A friend just texted me the news of the death of Bishop Richard Williamson. He was 84 years-old.
We all owe this man a debt. There have been men and women, priests, bishops, fathers, and mothers who have worked tirelessly to preserve the ancient Mass and the ancient and authentic Catholic faith that corresponds with it. Bishop Williamson was certainly among those.
Like many of you, I came to tradition later in my life. The first time my nephew, a likeminded man (who’s wife, coincidentally had been confirmed by the bishop) sent me a video of one of the bishop’s talks, I watched in amazement.
It is thanks to something the bishop said in one of those talks that I began the practice of praying the complete rosary every day – all 15 decades. I highly recommend it.
Bishop Williamson said, “Watch and pray, watch and pray; fifteen decades every day.”
Simple, beautiful, deeply devotional.
I will offer my decades for his soul this evening and I urge you to do the same.
Holy Mary, Mothernof God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death!
