Pray FOR Saint Rita’s

I spend a good deal of time on this page exhorting people to turn to St. Rita with their impossible requests.

Today, thanks to an article sent by a reader, I am asking people to pray FOR a parish named in that great saint’s honor.

In your charity, please offer your prayerful support.

Call Me a Sucker

We may have been founded by anti-Catholic Freemasons but I’m a sucker for…

A Sousa march!

Fred Astair lighting firecrackers off his tap shoes while smoking a Camel!

A small town Independence Day parade with fife and drum corps!

William Daniels as John Adams!

I truly mean this…

On this day when we celebrate the 249th anniversary of New Jersey declaring independence from Great Britain…

God bless America, for better or worse, my home sweet home.

So Close But…

A few takeaways…

Recognizing the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity as a true and Personal Friend to Whom we owe all love and worship is vitally important so, points to him for saying it.

As a young boy and throughout adolescence I also attended 6:30 mass in my parish church every day with my father. This was in fact the greatest gift I ever received from my father and I pray more men find the time and the will to bequeath devotion to daily mass to their children, especially their sons. I still go every day.

The Latin/English bit… he’s missing the point here. If only it were an issue of translations. The chasm that exists between the actual prayers of the Mass of the Ages and the Novus Ordo is wide and deep. If it were only a linguistic question…

Something about the content of his address reminds me very much of what St. Paul said about becoming a man and putting aside childish things. I could be completely wrong in my read of this; but he seems to be speaking of the holy sacrifice in absolute infantile terms.

That’s all I got.

Holy Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth, pray for us!

Christmas in July?

Nope, just a vital part of the Christmas message…

Happy Feast of the Visitation!
