A Gift and Message from an Old, Dear Friend

This evening, friends, a good friend of mine stopped by and dropped off something he had picked up for me.

The author of this pamphlet was a dear man and a truly holy priest. I was blessed to come to know him well in the final year of his life. I had the opportunity to visit him in the hospital every week thanks to the goodness of another priest who has become a dear friend as well. Fr. Buckley inspired me every time I saw him in his final illness. He made me want to love Jesus Christ more and more. He made me desire to suffer for love of Christ. He blessed me on his deathbed and I will never forget that tender moment.

I have been asking Our Lord to direct me toward solid spiritual reading. Perhaps this little booklet is just what I need. I feel like Father sent this to me. And I am overjoyed. I almost shed a tear.

Say a prayer for Father (though I remain convinced he is in heaven with Our Lord and His Blessed Mother).

Holy Mary, Mother of the Saviour, pray for us!

Thank Heavens…

I recently read a headline of Canon212 leading me to believe that San Antonio had a new ordinary. However, the new bishop in question is merely an Auxiliary Bishop.

For a moment there I thought we had lost Ricardo Montalban.

“Rich, Corinthian leather…”
I long for a return to the days when that was a small Chrysler.

Cooking with Dad Jokes

Was going to make these on what was supposed to be (in my mind) a beautiful final Saturday in an unusually temperate Texas. For reference it only hit 100 about three times this summer.

Instead it turned out to be raining cats and dogs.

I know.

I just stepped in a poodle.

Confess, Confess, Confess

I just heard that a young woman with whom my teenage daughter worked this summer died unexpectedly of a blood clot.

Pray for her soul, please.

Stay confessed. You know not the hour nor the day.

Hearing Reports… Minneapolis Catholic School

I’m seeing reports out of Minneapolis that there has been a shooting at annunciation Catholic Church and School. Students returned Monday for a new school year and would have been in the church for Mass at the time of the shooting.

A news anchor in the Twin Cities just said on air, “Probably a lot of parents have picked up their kids from other schools in light of this event and decided to keep them home today.”

Folks, it doesn’t need to be said, but you his is just one small reason why I keep my kids home all the time.

God have mercy on us all.

A Story in the Making

Clearly, I’ve been lagging in my posts lately. Summer is winding down and things are getting back to normal (or whatever passes).

I’ve got a funny story to tell that I hope to publish soon.

Meanwhile, please continue to pray for me and for my family. The kids are continuing with their schoolwork (we homeschool) and beginning some college classes too!

I will continue to pray for you.

St. Rita, pray for us!

A Friendly Reminder…

Pray for our priests.
