Am I Not Here, Who Art Thu Mother?

Today we celebrated the most moving feast of Our Lady, th Virgin of Guadalupe.

When one considers that the Queen of Heaven and Earth deigned to come to the poor Juan Diego – and by extension to all of us in this new world – purely out of love for us and that she left us so magnificent a sign of her presence, one can hardly help but to be moved almost to tears.

O sweetest Mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe, visit again this Thy land and these Thy children! Protect us from harm and lead us to Thy Son!

In the propers for the Mass we read this from Canticles:

“Alleluia , alleluia . The flowers have appeared in our land, the time of pruning is come. Alleluia.”

Sta confessed. What a terrible pruning is to come upon us.
