Funny Vigil Moment: It’s All In the Prophecies

During the chanting of the twelve prophecies at the Easter Vigil on Saturday night, I looked over and noticed my wife struggling to read from the booklet by candlelight. I get it. We’re both a little older not young now. Reading small print in broad daylight can be difficult. Take away all but the flicker of a tiny candle and it’s a real battle to focus.

Harvey to the rescue!

Not one to speak during Holy Mass, I leaned in and quietly whispered as the priest chanted from the Prophet Daniel.

“Sweetheart,” I said, “You already know this story. It’s not hard to fill in the gaps.

“It says…

“Iran is only two weeks away from a nuclear weapon.”

Good night, folks.

Christ Is Risen! Alleluia!

A most blessed and happy Easter to each of you!

The Five Wounds

The great Mark Docherty posted this. It definitely deserves a look.

Good Friday

This is perhaps my favorite image from the Stations of the Cross. Look at how lovingly, with joy and anticipation, He embraces the instrument of His death for you and for me!

The image is from the Stations in Our Lady of Good Counsel parish in Newark, NJ – my home parish growing up.

Holy Thursday and the Memorial of the Passion

From Liguori:

https://www.religiousbookshelf.com/meditations-and-readings/day/2154-Holy-Thursday.html

“Do this in commemoration of me. (Luke xxii. 19). St. Thomas says that the Redeemer left us the Most Blessed Sacrament that we may ever remember the blessings He has obtained for us, and the love He showed us in dying for us. And hence the Blessed Eucharist is called by the same holy Doctor Passionis Memoriale, a memorial of the Passion.”

Take note. A MEMORIAL OF HIS PASSION. How may of us grew up hearing that Mass was our “communal meal” without ever hearing that this is Christ’s Passon re-presented to us? I thank God every day He brought me to Tradition.
