A Letter to My Sister

43 years ago today, my life changed in an instant. A fire raged through our home. I was four years-old.

I was reminiscing with my older sister on the phone last night about this. We do this every year. She saved my life. I always call her on this day and tell her the following.

“I woke up this morning in my own bed in my own house. Next to me was my wife. Our dog was curled up with his head under my hand as if he was hoping I’d pet him in his sleep. My beautiful children slept soundly in their beds. My back hurts a bit. It usually does. When you threw me from the second floor, well, we know the damage that did to my spine. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you, Susan.”

And she always laments that she couldn’t save everyone. “Why couldn’t I find them?” she asks. It’s been 43 years. We know the answer. A true fire is black. We couldn’t see for the smoke had filled every cubic inch of space.

But a better answer might be this.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the Lord!

He wanted you and me and the siblings you did save and Mom and Dad here on this earth. And the three He called home? He wanted them there.

Never forget that I love you, my wife thanks you, our children thank you. You are my hero and I’m glad you were there that night because otherwise I wouldn’t be here today.

My Brother

My oldest brother went to his judgment nine years ago today. Please, in your charity, pray for his soul.

Mother most pure; pray for us!

Go to Confession!

I heard tonight of the crash of a plane at Reagan Airporr in Virginia.

I routinely fly into and out of this airport.

Friends, you can be summoned to your judgment in an instant.

Stay confessed!

Rest in Peace, Dear Bishop Williamson

A friend just texted me the news of the death of Bishop Richard Williamson. He was 84 years-old.

We all owe this man a debt. There have been men and women, priests, bishops, fathers, and mothers who have worked tirelessly to preserve the ancient Mass and the ancient and authentic Catholic faith that corresponds with it. Bishop Williamson was certainly among those.

Like many of you, I came to tradition later in my life. The first time my nephew, a likeminded man (who’s wife, coincidentally had been confirmed by the bishop) sent me a video of one of the bishop’s talks, I watched in amazement.

It is thanks to something the bishop said in one of those talks that I began the practice of praying the complete rosary every day – all 15 decades. I highly recommend it.

Bishop Williamson said, “Watch and pray, watch and pray; fifteen decades every day.”

Simple, beautiful, deeply devotional.

I will offer my decades for his soul this evening and I urge you to do the same.

Holy Mary, Mothernof God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death!

Prayers for Bishop Williamson

It is apparent that Bishop Williamson is in his final agony. Pray for him that he persevere and that Our Lady assist him at the hour of his death.

Side note: I have a niece who was confirmed by the good bishop.

Mary, Morher of Priests, pray for us!

Now, friends, let’s practice saying it to TradInc.

Another Winning Sunday

Yes, I know… He’s got his problems.

Still praying for his conversion.

But this wasn’t a bad news cycle to watch on a Sunday.

Hey Colombia, Daddy’s home and he’s not messin’ around.
