My eyes immediately well up with tears when I think of these “little tiny children”, brutally murdered in infancy by the evil Herod. I’m a dad. I cannot imagine the anguish their parents suffered at the deaths of these little martyrs. But these infant boys all now wear the robes of martyrs and have a higher place in the Beatific Vision than I ever will.
Try to listen to this beautiful piece and not cry.
And following up on my post yesterday about the Ray Conniff Christmas Special, longtime reader “D. O.” writes:
“I find the Ray Coniff version of Carol of the Bells quite beautiful yet quite haunting. To the concern and dismay of my wife, I have often said that song will be the soundtrack when Real Catholic Men, myself included I hope, take up swords and ride horses to retake the churches and drive out the modernists.”
To that I say, “Right on. I’ll take the tenor 1 part.”
I’ve always been a fan of Ray Conniff and his Singers. There’s something about hearing pretty voices in harmony with a little touch of swing that just sets my heart and mind at ease. Also, I have long desired to host such a swing in’ ‘60’s Christmas party but only if I, too, can dress like a Century 21 realtor while serving smart cocktails to my guests.
Check out the gang’s renisition of Joy to the World…
Hawkins, 29, was having dinner with his young son at an Olive Garden on Christmas Eve in 2000 when he got a call over his radio. There was a robbery in progress at a sporting goods store across Highway 183 in Irving, TX. Due to his proximity to, Hawkins responded to the call. The gunmen, members of the infamous “Texas 7” who had escaped a maximum security facility eleven days prior, ambushed him, shooting him eleven times and running his body over with their stolen car.
He is buried near my parish church. For the past several years, my son and I have visited his grave on this day to pray for his soul.
The Argentine spews the heresy that capital punishment is “inadmissible” (whatever that odd term means). Fortunately the great state of Texas disagrees.
He Had Already Been Deported Once
In New York this Christmas Eve, citizens are outraged at the murder of a 29 year-old Ph. D. student. Her name was Amelia Carter. She was set ablaze while she dozed on an F train at Coney Island by a man who was in this country illegally. Did you hear that US bishops? Are you happy?
See above about capital punishment.
Pray for their souls and for their families and pray God deliver us from these nightmares.
Folks, I got off all that social media nonsense a while ago. Sorry but I'm not on Twitbook, Facepalm, YouHu, WingWang or any of the others. Maybe an event will happen to make me change my mind like Peter and Paul coming down with flaming swords and commanding it be so. Until then, read the blog and if you feel a comment is in order or you feel like sharing a tip or suggestion for a topic, email me at harvey@harveymillican.com.
