Transfiguration of Our Lord

Blessed feast to everyone!

Remember, the same Lord who showed forth His glory in a brief moment to Peter, James, and John on the mountain is also He Who veils Himself under the appearance of bread for love of us.

The post-communion from the Mass of the Transfiguration sums it up.

“Præsta, quǽsumus, omnípotens Deus: ut sacrosáncta Fílii tui Transfiguratiónis mystéria, quæ sollemni celebrámus offício, purificáta mentis intellegéntia consequámur.”

“Grant, we beseech Thee, almighty God, that by the understanding of our minds made pure, we may grasp the mystery of the Transfiguration of Thine only-begotten Son, which we celebrate by these solemn rites.”

Dr. Mazza Hits It Out of the Park Again!

Friends, our old pal, Dr. Ed Mazza once again lays out the case for what so many of us believe by surface observation in his customary professorial manner.

Do give this a listen.

The Rita List

Long time readers will know that I pray an ongoing novena to the patron of impossible causes, St. Rita of Cascia. over the past three years, many of you have emailed specific intentions for me to add to that novena. The list I keep is now several pages long. Happily many of you have also written to inform me that your prayer was answered in one way or another, and I was able to remove that intention from the list.

Today roughly marks three years since I began this practice and started sharing it with all of you readers. I think that marks a good time and a great opportunity to consolidate that long list into a simple intention.

“For the intentions of all of my readers, especially those who have asked of your powerful intercession…”

God most assuredly knows what those intentions are.

This simply allows me more space if you will to add more and more intentions by name going forward.

As always, I humbly ask that in your charity, you would remember me in your prayers and specifically several intentions for which I will begin praying Monday August 4, 2025. And if anyone has new intentions. (Those not mentioned to me previously) by all means, email them to me.

St. Rita, patron of the impossible, pray for us!
