Final Week! Blowout! Sale Ends Soon!

We’re coming into the last week of Holy Lent. I have failed miserably this year what with travels and guests. I’ve picked up a skill in bread making but seemed to skirt the spirit of true fasting more than once. By the way, that bread is the good.

As I was driving through Manhattan a few days ago, I saw a few signs for stores going out of business and it reminded me of the spirit of finishing strong and getting rid of everything.

Lent is almost over. The “wholesale” grace offered by God to give Him everything is guaranteed at this time.

I’m going to start with confession and then hunker down on fasting.

God be with each of us.

Liz Yore Again Asks the Big Questions

When I read this one line, I was shaken.

“Did McCarrick have a will?”

https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/the-devil-must-be-proud-of-mccarricks-role-in-hurting-the-church/

So asks the amazing Liz Yore. And I hope she gets this one out to a wider audience (Bannon?).

We know from the historical record that Ted McCarrick was himself a beneficiary in the wills of other famous and fabulously wealthy people. According to James Grein, McCarrick was a recipient of the will of Conrad Hilton to the tune of millions.

So let’s stay on this trail and find out who Teddy left his big bucks too. I’m curious. Was it Cupich? Was it McElroy? Gotta leave a little something for the boys to have a banger of a weekend, right?

Personally I’m of the opinion that he copied his dear friend Leona Helmsley and left it all to the dog out of spite.

Happy Birthday, Lady! We Love Ya!

Happily, I got to spend today with my dear mom on her 88th birthday.

88 years. 59 years of marriage. 16 children. 54 grandchildren. Many more great-grandchildren. Native New Yorker. A widow almost ten years on. Six children buried. A life full of faith and love. I never learned more from another person, never laughed more with another person. My greatest teacher. My Mom.

I love you, chica (although neither of us are Dominican). Stick around a bit longer. I’m sure the best is yet to come.

Let’s Go Mets!

I had the joy of taking my boy to a Mets game in Queens tonight. And for once, Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, and the boys got the W. And I for to go with my nephew and his son. It was the young man’s first baseball game. He’s 3. A good time was had by all.

Sometimes, God gives you these moments for pure joy.

He Hid Himself

Welcome to Passiontide!

Even my beloved St. Rita gets the purple shroud treatment.

Ted McCarrick Dead

I am seeing reports right now that Theodore Edgar McCarrick, former cardinal of the Holy Catholic Church is dead today at the age of 94.

I will have more on this for sure.

As much as it pains me to say it, let’s get it out of the way.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

That being said, we are now rid of perhaps the most destructive man in the history of the Church since Martin Luther.

I knew him. He was my archbishop. I was in his seminary. I know men he abused. I witnessed the destruction he wrought.

God have mercy on his soul. I’ve been anticipating this day for some time.
