Far From “Ordinary” Time

I’m working on a few pieces tonight so I’ll be brief.

Today, I had the blessing of worshiping Our Lord as I do every day at my parish church. Feast of the great St. Anthony of Padua, Confessor and Doctor. First week after Pentecost.

Catch that? I was raised in the Novus Ordo, attended Catholic schools, went to seminary, never understood this “ordinary time”. But the season after Pentecost? This makes perfect sense to me. Coming to know Our Lord in the light of the Holy Ghost! Yes!

I was doubly-blessed that the priest who said mass does so with greatest reverence and devotion.

Pray for him.

Pray for all priests.

And the cat from last post? The shelter is closed on Mondays. So, James Martin, SJ got a can of tuna and a dish of water. He still tried to come into my house.

Also, if you haven’t read the blog One Mad Mom, do yourself the favor. She’s got a great piece right now on the Grindr priest, Fr. Altman, and their bishop. I share your anger, sister. Great piece!

I’ll close with this. A friend is on pilgrimage in France. He sends a picture from an Irish pub.

Mary Mother of Priests, pray for us!

St. Patrick, pray for us!

St. Anthony, pray for us!
