I will add one thing to the discussion and perhaps any reader who knows can email me with the correct answer. Recently after Mass, the priests returned to the sanctuary and displayed a relic of the True Cross. We had been told during the sermon that this relic (any relic of the True Cross) is one that we “adore” and not simply venerate because this one has Our Lord’s Blood on it. With that in mind, after the reliquary was placed on a side altar, I saw many approach and genuflect to it. Again, I had not heard of this custom before but I’m happy to learn. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
