I had the opportunity to pass through the little hamlet of Ave Maria, Florida this afternoon on my from the Gulf Coast back to Fort Lauderdale’s airport.
Ave Maria (Ave, for short) is a planned community founded by philanthropist Tom Monaghan, founder of Dominos Pizza) as a city to support his Ave Maria University.
The town itself it cute enough. I could live without the gators but that’s Florida for you. Below are some pictures of the church that dominates the center of town.
But what caught my eye was found in a Catholic book store near the church. I entered and saw the following…

As you all know, Rita is very special to me (as is Barbara).
On another shelf was the recently canonized St. John XXIII…. Take a look. I promise he was there.

But guess who I didn’t seee…
There was no St. Paul VI – everyone’s favorite Freemason homopope.
I guess not enough demand.
Something about cult of a saint and all came to mind.
St. Rita of Cascia, pray for us!
